Descriptif : Dr. Gras and Dr. Perrin share joint interests in manipulating, reacting and incorporating radioactive fluorine atoms (18F) into biomolecules. Our global strategy is to use boron as a carrier of 18F-fluoride in the formation of a trifluoroborate radioprosthetic and/or as an intermediary in delivering fluoride to an organic substrate via anion or radical abstraction mechanism. Both UBC Chemistry department and the LCC (Laboratoire de Chimie de Coordination) in Toulouse, where Dr. Perrin and Dr. Gras hold permanent research positions are well-known for multidisciplinary work at the interface of biochemsitry, bioorganic and bioinorganic chemistry. Based on our respective interests and expertise, our joint effort in which Mr. Sadek serves as a nexus, provide Mr. Sadek with a unique opportunity to increase his knowledge and technical skills in applications of chemistry to radiotracer and drug development.
